I have been a music and drama teacher for 20 years, and absolutely love what I do! I gained a music degree at Sheffield University before going on to gain a PGCE in music teaching. My first study instruments were Piano and Voice.

I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2008 where I was first to study Violin. I have also achieved Grade 8 on Piano and Saxophone. I later did a PGCE in 2016 where I have taught in both Secondary and Primary Schools.

Annual productions, concerts and recitals
In our Music Department, pupils explore a variety of instruments, vocal techniques, and music theory in a well-equipped environment. Personalised instruction helps our young musicians reach their fullest potential through string ensembles, choirs, and solo performances.
From Form 1 onward, we offer individual lessons in piano, violin, flute, clarinet, guitar, saxophone, and singing, taught by skilled peripatetic teachers. pupils are regularly entered for ABRSM music exams held at school, with many performance opportunities throughout the year.
Children as young as 6 months to Form 2 enjoy weekly music lessons with Mrs. Wainwright, laying a solid foundation in music. pupils in Forms 3-6 receive one lesson each in music and drama weekly with Mrs. Hart, ensuring a well-rounded education in both fields.
Our choirs provide group singing opportunities for different age groups and skill levels, including a Pre-Prep Choir, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, and a Chamber Choir for advanced singers. These choirs perform at school events and competitions throughout the year.
Pupils have numerous chances to showcase their talents during events such as nativities for EYFS and Pre-Prep, music recitals, choir competitions, a carol service, the Music Gala Concert, and Speech Day, all of which offer invaluable performance experience and opportunities to share their achievements with the school community.
Our Drama Department provides an exciting platform for children to immerse themselves in theatre! Drama lessons for Forms 3-6 are held in the inspiring Boddington Theatre, where pupils learn the fundamentals of acting, stagecraft, and production design through engaging classes and dynamic productions.
Students in Forms 4 and 5 perform one play each year, helping them build skills and confidence on stage. In Form 6, classes unite for a large-scale musical production, creating an exciting collaborative experience. Recent productions have included Bugsy Malone, Oliver!, Grease, and The Wizard of Oz.
