With over 50 clubs available each week, we encourage every child to participate in at least one club, allowing them to explore their passions and make new friends. Some of these clubs are conveniently scheduled during the school day, while others take place after school, providing flexibility for all children.
We are fortunate to have partnerships with some of the best industry professionals in the area, who run our external clubs. This invaluable collaboration offers our children the unique opportunity to train with and learn from experts who are at the top of their fields. Together, our dedicated teaching staff and these industry leaders provide a diverse range of activities that empower our children to pursue their interests and develop new skills.
At Pownall Hall School, our extra-curricular sports programme is designed to inspire and develop young athletes in a supportive, fun environment. We offer an extensive range of activities led by industry experts, ensuring that every child can find their passion and thrive, whilst our skilled coaches focus on building confidence, teamwork, and individual skill. From our two-year-olds to Form 6, all skill levels are nurtured in our clubs, where commitment and practice pave the way for local fixtures and national tournaments.
Since 1997, PFC has provided the highest quality of football coaching courses and events for thousands of local players across Cheshire and Manchester. Their main objective is to develop confident and creative players who have the right attitude and self-belief, on and off the pitch.
Box Lacrosse is a smaller, faster 6-a-side version of the game, perfect for beginners and even better for the more advanced players to hone their stick speed and Lax IQ.
Children head to our neighbouring Pownall Park Lane Tennis Club for group professional coaching sessions with Mike Austin. Sessions for different age groups are run on different nights, accommodating all abilities.
Fun, interactive yoga sessions combining storytelling and movement, with the highly experienced Milena Lewis. Robins to Reception incorporate Yoga into their core curriculum, whilst Forms 1-6 have the option of joining Yoga club after school.
Based at Styal Golf Club, coaching is open to all levels of golfers, from complete beginners. With over twenty years of coaching experience, Mark has coached six year old beginners to national level golfers, private sessions, groups sessions and Cheshire County squads.
Just Gymnastics provide quality gymnastics sessions that are fun, safe and a great physical activity! Just Gymnastics is a proud member of the British Gymnastics Association, and all their coaches are registered under British Gymnastics.
Taught in full fencing kit which is provided, children have the ability to progress through 6 certificated stages, encouraging respect, discipline, effort and wanting to achieve. Judo Education have been providing coaching in Schools for over 22 years.

Katie Mitchell delivers the multi-award-winning, CAA gold accredited language programme using a fun and interactive methodology of songs, actions, rhymes, game play, storytelling and drama.
Highly experienced in education for over 20 years, specialising in teaching children from babies to Prep through ‘super fun adventures’. Their after school club is also EYFS & National Curriculum Compliant.
At Pownall Hall School, our extra-curricular ‘Creative’ programme is a vibrant haven for children who have a passion for art, crafts, and hands-on creativity. In addition to these offerings, our six-person-strong peripatetic music and performing arts team delivers over 100 music lessons every single week, plus termly music recitals for parents, ensuring personalised guidance and support for every child.
Kortnie Ross is a qualified and professional dancer specialising in commercial and street dance who brings her infectious enthusiasm and passion to Pownall Hall each week for various clubs, split by age groups, including Glee Club, Street Dance and Musical Theatre.
Benjamin Clarke is a musician with a broad and stylistically diverse career as a pianist, keyboard player, trumpet player, singer, song-writer, arranger, composer and teacher of music. Notable stage performances include the 100th Royal Variety Show at the Royal Albert Hall with Neil Diamond, a concert at The Cavern in Liverpool with Dancing On Ice/X Factor star Ray Quinn and recitals at concert venues across the country such as London’s Wigmore Hall and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.
Mr. Paul Farr is a dedicated peripatetic music teacher hailing from Nottingham, UK, with a passion for guitar that began in his youth. After studying Popular Music and Recording at University College Salford, he became deeply involved in the vibrant Manchester music scene and has played with notable artists such as Errol Brown, Lily Allen, and Tom Jones. For the past 15 years, Paul has led his own band, The Paul Farr Band, performing at jazz venues and festivals across the country. In addition to his performances, he also plays for The Kyla Brox Band, an act known for its accolades in the blues genre.
Colette Todd is a highly experienced and versatile peripatetic singing teacher with a classical training in music, teaching individual lessons to children aged 6-11 years, working through ABRSM exams and local Festivals. Colette’s extensive repertoire spans a wide range of genres, from classical and folk to jazz, musical theatre, and even rock. As a sought-after soloist, she regularly performs at recitals and concerts, plus also sings with esteemed choirs such as the Manchester Chamber Choir and the Hallé Choir.
Richard Jones is a talented pianist, improviser, and composer based in Manchester, UK, whose diverse musical upbringing led him to study classical violin before focusing on jazz and improvisation on the piano. Recently, he formed his own trio with Joshua Cavanagh-Brierley and Johnny Hunter, showcasing his ‘achingly lyrical’ playing style, as praised by All About Jazz. Richard has toured internationally with the award-winning Beats & Pieces Big Band and regularly collaborates with various ensembles, including the Nishla Smith Quintet, Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat, and the Graham South Quartet, while also participating in innovative crossover projects with Manchester Camerata and Manchester Collective.
Katie Fenton is a highly accomplished Speech and Drama peripatetic teacher and the owner of Edge Drama Academy, specialising in LAMDA tuition and drama classes. With a strong academic background, she holds a First Class Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Salford in Visual and Performing Arts and a PGCE Secondary Education qualification in Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University. Katie’s expertise and passion for the arts are evident as she guides students through the LAMDA Performance Syllabus in Acting, from Entry Grade to Grade 8, helping them develop confidence and skills in solo and duo scripts.
Mrs Wainwright is a valued member of our music department at Pownall Hall, bringing her extensive expertise and passion for music education to our children, where she also offers piano and woodwind lessons as a peripatetic teacher. An accomplished violinist, Emily graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2008 and has since enjoyed a prolific career as both a performer and teacher. She has graced stages around the world, performing as a soloist, in duets, and in quartets, while also teaching a variety of instruments, including violin, saxophone, piano, cello, flute, and clarinet, to children of all ages. In 2016.
Led by the talented Jessica Ricketts from Jessica Katie’s Academy of Dance. Trained between the ages of 16 – 19 at The Northern Ballet School before gaining her ISTD teaching qualifications, Jessica brings a wealth of expertise and passion to every class.
At Pownall Hall School, our extra-curricular ‘Games’ programme is designed to ignite curiosity and foster critical thinking. Whether through the tactical maneuvers of chess, the creativity of building with Lego, or the thrill of solving puzzles, children are given the opportunity to enhance their problem-solving skills while having fun!
Hosted by Sarah Hegarty, who represented England at the World and European Chess Championships since the age of 10, and now represents England at the Adult Chess Olympiads. Her most notable performance for England was scoring 7.5/9 and unbeaten at the 2010 Chess Olympiads in Khanty-Mansiysk, Siberia. Sarah is a qualified Women’s FIDE Chess Master & English Chess Federation Accredited Coach.

At Pownall Hall School, our extra-curricular ‘Educational’ programme provides students with the opportunity to explore their favourite subjects in greater depth. Our revision and homework clubs further support academic success by offering a structured environment where pupils can seek help and complete their work with guidance from experienced teachers.
