Pownall pupils are saying a great big “Thank you” to their Parents Association after a fundraising ball raised enough funds to provide the school with its very own radio station.
Greatest Hits Radio Presenter, Darren Proctor came along to school this week for the official launch of the school radio station. Darren treated boys and girls from Pownall to some top tips and tricks of the radio presenting profession. Darren said, “It was great to hang out with the children today and so good to see them so engaged with this incredible piece of kit.” Passionate about all things radio, Darren was really impressed with how quickly the pupils picked up the skills.
“I was quite in awe of how quickly the children got it, and they really did get it! I am going to have to watch my back with this lot coming through the ranks. I reckon I’ll be listening to some of them in the not too distant future!”
The school’s Headmaster, David Goulbourn, is delighted with the new addition to his school. “I am already incredibly proud of our school and the excellent provision we offer, but this is just a fantastic addition to the co-curricular skill set we can offer to our boys and girls.”
Children from Nursery through to Year 6 will be able to learn new skills such as, scriptwriting, creating jingles, production and presenting skills, and of course team work.
David went on to say: “Learning goes well beyond the classroom at Pownall Hall School. With eight acres of beautiful grounds, free-flow outdoor classrooms, a forest school, a pond, and our very own theatre, pupils are used to alternative approaches to master the curriculum. The new radio station fits perfectly with the Pownall Ethos of taking learning beyond.”
