Pre-Prep Sport
Sport at Pownall is all about a positive, happy, yet challenging and competitive environment. We appreciate, promote and understand the variety of benefits sport and physical education can have on our pupils and their mental and physical wellbeing. In addition to the children benefiting from improved self-esteem, sports gives them crucial communication and social skills, and of course, teamwork!
As they progress through the Pre-Prep into Year 2, the children are taught the key techniques of the main team games the school plays – hockey, netball and cricket. Beginning to focus on the correct skills, together with learning the etiquette of competitive matches, equips the children to participate in their first competitive fixtures in Year 3.
Sports Days are a highlight of Pre-Prep, and parents and children alike enjoy this important annual fixture where good sportsmanship and success are celebrated.
As well as our curriculum taught sports, we also have a huge variety of extra sports clubs on offer which our children take part in during their break times, as well as after school. Have a look at our clubs page for more information.
