The Parent Staff Association plays a vital role in life at Pownall Hall School. It brings parents and staff together to strengthen our school community, enhance the children’s experience and support a wide range of projects and events throughout the year.
At its heart, the PSA is about connection. It creates opportunities for families to meet, get involved and feel part of something special, while also raising significant funds that directly benefit the school and, most importantly, the children.
The PSA supports the school in three key ways:
Raising funds for meaningful projects
Through its events and initiatives, the PSA raises tens of thousands of pounds each year. These funds are reinvested into the school, supporting facilities, resources and experiences that go above and beyond what is expected.
Building community
From informal social events to much-loved annual celebrations, the PSA helps create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that families often remark on when they first visit Pownall.
Enhancing children’s experiences
Whether it is funding equipment, supporting enrichment opportunities or creating memorable moments for the children, the PSA’s work has a direct and lasting impact on daily school life.
The PSA organises and supports a wide range of events across the school year, many of which have become highlights in the Pownall calendar, including:
Pownall Fest – our much-loved summer celebration
Christmas Fair
Summer Ball
Quiz Night
Comedy Night
Light Up The Sky
Alongside these events, the PSA runs the Preloved Uniform Shop, providing affordable, sustainable options for families while raising additional funds for the school.
Every parent at Pownall is automatically part of the PSA. There is no formal sign-up process and no expectation that involvement should look the same for everyone.
Some parents attend termly meetings to share ideas and help shape future events. Others volunteer at events, help on the day, or support behind the scenes when time allows. Many families simply enjoy attending the events and supporting the initiatives.
Involvement is entirely flexible. Whether you have a great idea, a few hours to spare, or would simply like to feel more connected to the school community, there is a place for you.
The PSA is parent-led, with a small leadership team overseeing planning and finances, working closely with the Headmaster to ensure projects align with the school’s priorities. This balance allows parents to lead with confidence, while maintaining a clear sense of purpose and direction.
Being part of the PSA offers more than fundraising alone. It is a chance to:
Get to know other parents across the school
Play an active role in shaping school life
Support projects that directly benefit your child and their peers
Be part of the energy, creativity and generosity that makes Pownall such a special place
Many parents say it is one of the most rewarding aspects of their time at Pownall, and often wish they had become involved sooner.
Termly PSA meetings are advertised in the weekly school bulletin, and all parents are warmly encouraged to attend. Whether you would like to join the committee, help at events, share ideas or simply learn more, you will be very welcome.
Getting involved with the PSA is an opportunity to make your child’s Prep school experience even more memorable, while becoming part of a community that genuinely cares.
