Set within eight acres of beautiful grounds and centred around our historic Grade II* listed Arts and Crafts hall, Pownall Hall School offers an exceptional learning environment unlike any other local prep school.
Our facilities are not add-ons. They are integral to daily school life, allowing children to move confidently between specialist spaces, enjoy a broad curriculum, and experience senior-school-style learning within a nurturing prep environment – all on one site.
Learning Through Discovery
Purpose-built in 2022, our science laboratory introduces pupils to practical science in a way rarely seen at prep level. From an early age, children work collaboratively, investigate real scientific questions and develop the confidence to experiment, hypothesise and analyse.
Fully equipped for biology, chemistry and physics, the laboratory allows pupils to experience science as active learners rather than observers, laying strong foundations for senior school and beyond.

Sport is a daily, valued part of life at Pownall Hall. With extensive facilities on site and specialist teaching from Nursery to Form 6, children develop teamwork, resilience and confidence alongside physical skill.

Creativity Rooted in Craft and Imagination
Housed within the historic Boddington Theatre building, our Art and Design Studio is a space where creativity is taken seriously. Flooded with natural light and rich in character, it allows pupils to experiment, take risks and develop technical skill alongside imagination.
With access to a kiln and printing press, children explore ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, painting and mixed media, learning that creativity is both expressive and disciplined.
Confidence Begins on the Stage
At the heart of Pownall’s cultural life sits the Henry Boddington Theatre. From as young as two, children are encouraged to sing, speak and perform, building confidence in a supportive and joyful environment.
Music and drama are led by specialists, with regular performances, ensembles and choirs giving every child the chance to shine. Our annual Form 6 production is a cherished highlight, marking the culmination of years of confidence-building and teamwork.
A Calm Space for Thought and Discovery
Located within the heart of our historic hall, the library is a place for quiet reflection, curiosity and independent learning. Carefully designed with the support of our Parent Staff Association, it offers a welcoming environment where children can develop a genuine love of reading.
The library supports research, group discussion and storytelling, encouraging pupils to pause, reflect and engage deeply with ideas.

Outdoor learning is woven into everyday life at Pownall Hall. Our woodland areas, gardens and wildlife pond provide children with space to explore, reflect and learn in a natural environment.
Through Forest School sessions and unstructured play, children develop independence, resilience and self-awareness — whether building dens, observing wildlife, climbing trees or simply enjoying the freedom of open space.
