At Pownall Hall School, dining is an integral part of the school day – supporting health, wellbeing, independence and social development. We are proud to partner with Holroyd Howe, specialists in independent school catering, to deliver fresh, thoughtfully prepared food every day.

Mealtimes at Pownall are designed to help children develop confidence and independence around food. With genuine choice at every sitting, pupils learn to select balanced meals, try new flavours and listen to their own preferences – skills that matter far beyond childhood.
Our vibrant salad and pasta stations, alongside meat-based and plant-based main dishes, ensure that every child finds something to enjoy, from adventurous eaters to those with simpler tastes.
We are proud to serve food that’s good for our pupils and for the planet.
At Pownall Hall, sustainability is woven into every part of our dining experience – from how ingredients are sourced to how we educate pupils about the impact of their food choices.

At Pownall, food education extends far beyond the dining hall.
Through chef demonstrations, tasting tables and hands-on food workshops, children learn about nutrition, sustainability and where their food comes from. From making fresh pasta to exploring global cuisines, our aim is to nurture lifelong healthy habits and a genuine love of good food.
Our catering calendar also ties in with seasonal and cultural events throughout the year – from much-loved traditions such as Harvest Festival Week, Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day, to imaginative theme days that capture pupils’ curiosity, including Harry Potter Day, International Sushi Day, 3.14 Mash (Pi Day) and Treasure Island Week. These fun, interactive occasions bring food education to life, encouraging pupils to explore new tastes and ideas while celebrating the joy of food together.
We are proud to hold a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating, awarded by Cheshire East Environmental Health. Inspectors highlighted our use of fresh, local produce and the team’s expertise in managing dietary requirements.
