Admissions procedure

Registration Form

We are delighted that you are interested in starting your child’s educational journey at Pownall Hall School. The first step is to come and have a look around, on a personal tour with our Headmaster. Please contact our Admissions Manager to arrange a time to suit, either by emailing admissions@pownallhallschool.co.uk or calling 01625 523141 and asking to speak to the Admissions department.

Following your tour, you will be given a registration pack including registration form to complete and return to admissions@pownallhallschool.co.uk or Admissions, Pownall Hall School, Carrwood Road, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5DW. A £60 registration fee is required at this stage.

Assessments

Preschool

In our wonderful pre-school, comprising of Robin Room (6 months to 2 years), Owl Room (2-3 years) and Kindergarten (3 – 4 years), there are no formal assessments.

For entry into Kindergarten, your child will be invited to join us for a short session within their cohort, enjoying our free flow provision in the care of a key worker. The key worker will ensure that your child is safe, happy and enjoys their time with us. They will make observations and these will be fed back to you upon your pick up.

Pre-Prep and Prep

From Reception and upwards, children are required to complete an assessment for entry into these year groups. Our assessments are designed to see whether your child will be able to thrive and enjoy our academic curriculum, irrespective of any special educational needs or disability they may have.

For entry into Reception, children will be assessed within the EYFS key areas of learning (ELGs).

For children in Form 1 and above, pupils will be invited for two consecutive taster days.

The first will include an academic assessment in maths, English and non-verbal reasoning, as well as being a chance for us to get to know your child pastorally, and for them to make friends within their class.

The second day will be for the children to enjoy all of the wider curriculum opportunities available for them here at Pownall Hall School, such as Art in our studio, music in our theatre, games on the astro or in our sports hall, Forest School in our beautiful grounds, and get a feel for our school as a whole.

Deposit

Should an offer be made for your son or daughter to join Pownall Hall, an acceptance form will be sent out for you to sign and we will ask for a £500 deposit. Once we receive the form and deposit, your son or daughter’s place will be confirmed. The deposit will be refunded when your child leaves at the end of Year 6.

If you would like to ask us any questions, we are available by either calling us on 01625 523 141 or emailing admissions@pownallhallschool.co.uk.
