Admissions Process at Pownall Hall School

Welcome to Pownall Hall School! We are delighted that you are considering us for your child’s educational journey. Our admissions process is designed to be clear and welcoming, ensuring that you and your child feel supported every step of the way.

Step 1: Schedule a Personal Tour

To begin, we invite you to experience our vibrant school community firsthand by taking a personal tour with our Headmaster. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet our excellent colleagues, see our pupils, and witness our extensive facilities in action; a time to ask questions, and get a feel for the warmth and camaraderie that defines Pownall Hall.

Step 2: Complete the Registration Form

After your tour, you will receive a registration pack, which includes a registration form. Completing this form is the next step in the admissions process. Once filled out, you can return it via email to admissions@pownallhallschool.co.uk or post to Admissions Manager, Pownall Hall School, Carrwood Road, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5DW. Please note that a registration fee of £60 is required at this stage.

Step 3: Assessments for Your Child

We are proud to offer a nurturing Early Years environment. For the younger children in our Woodland Nursery, you and your child will have the chance to meet with our Head of Early Years to discuss your child’s development. In Kindergarten, your little one will come for a short session, where they can explore and play under the attentive care of our Head of Kindergarten, who will share her observations with you.

As your child moves into Reception and beyond, they will participate in assessments designed to ensure they can thrive in our academic curriculum. For Reception, we will focus on key areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage. For older children — Form 1 and above — we invite them for two consecutive taster days. On the first day, they will engage in academic assessments in English and mathematics, as well as make new friends. The second day is all about exploring our exciting wider curriculum, from art and music to sports and our beautiful Forest School.

Step 4: Confirmation and Deposit

If we extend an offer for your child to join Pownall Hall, you will receive an acceptance form to sign, along with a request for a £500 deposit. This deposit helps secure your child’s place and will be fully refundable when your child leaves at the end of Year 6.

Should you have any questions or need further information at any point in the process, we are always here to help! We look forward to welcoming you and your family to Pownall Hall School and embarking on this exciting journey together.

Step 5: Settling in Sessions for the Early Years Children

In preparation for your child’s start in the Woodland Nursery, our Admissions Team will be in touch to arrange a new starter meeting for you and your child to attend together, followed by settling-in sessions for your child. These sessions are usually scheduled to take place near to the start date and are a fantastic opportunity for your child to become familiar with their new surroundings and the key staff members who will be supporting them. These sessions are a crucial part of ensuring a smooth and happy transition for your child.
