Pownall Hall School welcomes families from overseas who are relocating to the UK or exploring a British independent education for their child. Our admissions process is personal, thoughtful and carefully guided, ensuring families feel supported, informed and confident at every stage.
We are a close-knit, day prep school rooted in community, where every child is known and valued. Families joining us from overseas are welcomed into school life with the same care, warmth and individual attention that define the Pownall Hall experience.
This page is intended for families who are:
Currently living overseas and planning a move to the UK
Returning to the UK after time abroad
Exploring future schooling options ahead of relocation
We work closely with families to ensure expectations are clear and that Pownall Hall is the right fit for both the child and the family.
Admissions at Pownall Hall are intentionally unhurried and personal. We take time to understand each child’s background, previous educational experience and individual needs.
Overseas families are supported directly by our Admissions Manager and Headmaster, ensuring continuity, clarity and a single point of contact throughout the process.
Where possible, families are warmly invited to visit the school in person. For those unable to travel, we are pleased to offer a personal video consultation with the Headmaster.
This provides an opportunity to:
Learn more about life at Pownall Hall
Discuss your child’s education and next steps
Ask any questions about curriculum, transition or settling in
Gain a genuine sense of whether Pownall Hall feels right for your family
Assessments for children applying from overseas are designed to be supportive and age-appropriate, helping us to understand how best to support your child’s learning and wellbeing.
Where appropriate, assessments and discussions can take place remotely or at your child’s current school. Our focus is always on ensuring that each child is well suited to our learning environment and able to thrive both academically and personally.
We recognise that moving schools, particularly from overseas, is a significant step. Great care is taken to ensure each child settles quickly and confidently into school life.
Our small class sizes, strong pastoral care and welcoming community allow children to form friendships, feel secure and find their place with ease. Families are guided closely during this transition, with clear communication and ongoing support.
Information regarding school and nursery fees can be found on our School Fees page. Our Admissions Team will be happy to discuss any practical questions relating to fees, start dates or entry points.
